Menzies Campbell congratulates Liberal Democrat Luton on leading the way
Today at the launch of ‘power actually’, a book showcasing the work of the best performing councils run by Liberal Democrats, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Menzies Campbell praised these councils for being innovative and effective in power.
Menzies Campbell said:
“It is no surprise to read here stories of success and innovation in Liberal Democrat councils – we are at our best and most distinctive when we are providing solutions to enable local areas and people to flourish. I congratulate Luton on their innovative work.
“Liberal Democrats in local government show what we can do when in power – we devolve, we listen, and we manage resources sensibly and imaginatively to get the best out of our public services.”
Leader of the Liberal Democrats in local government, Cllr Richard Kemp said:
“This book is not just about recognising our success in running councils – this is about how Liberal Democrats use power most effectively and where we have found solutions that have eluded Whitehall and other parties.”
Council Leader David Franks said:
“It is very exciting that the excellent work Luton Council has been doing in schools has been recognised. I hope that other Councils can learn from the work we have been doing in this area to make Luton a better place to live.”
