Luton Liberal Democrats are ‘Ambitious for Luton’

Luton Liberal Democrats have declared that they are ‘Ambitious for Luton’ as they launch their manifesto for the local elections of May 3rd 2007.

The 25 page document of policies and plans for the next four years set out the priorities for the Liberal Democrats on Luton Borough Council if they win control of the Council after the local elections.

These priorities include:

  • To keep reducing the rate of increase in Council Tax and campaign for its replacement with a fair tax based on ability to pay.

  • To complete the regeneration of Luton’s parks and the Town Centre.

  • To increase recycling to over 50%.

  • To work for a significant improvement in educational achievement in Luton’s schools.

  • To conduct a complete review of traffic management in Luton and complete the building of the inner ring road.

  • To fight for the maintenance of improved street cleaning and waste collection.

  • To keep fighting waste and inefficiency at the Town Hall so that front line services can be improved and strengthened.
