Luton’s Social Care Services For Adults: Adequate Is Not Good Enough
This week Luton’s social care services for adults and older people received only a one star rating out of a possible three stars from the government inspectors.
The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) rated Luton’s services as being only “adequate”.
Luton was one of the 19 worst performing councils in England. The other 131 councils out of the 150 with social care responsibilities were awarded 2 stars or more.
Luton Liberal Democrat spokesperson on Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Andy Strange, said;
“I am very surprised that the Leader of the Council says she is pleased with this result. In my view adequate is not good enough.”
“Given that this result shows no improvement on last year her response suggests a worrying degree of complacency by the Labour administration at the Town Hall.”
“The Council needs to do much more to improve these services. Being one of the 19 worst performing councils in England is not something that the people of Luton should have to put up with.”
