GM not selling Vauxhall – “A Fantastic Boost to our town”: Hussain. – But now new worry – UPDATED

Local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Qurban Hussain has today warmly welcomed the news that GM won’t be selling Vauxhall.

The news helps to further secure the jobs of automotive workers in the town.

Mr Hussain, standing for the Liberal Democrats in Luton South, said that the news is a fantastic boost to the town:

“This news comes as a great relief for all of us concerned about the jobs of our automotive workers, as well as a fantastic boost to our whole area.

We owe a great deal of thanks to the hard work of the Union’s and workers at Vauxhall who have fought for our community.

The news is a clear demonstration of their dedication and how through hard work we can ensure a positive, prosperous future for Luton South”.

– UPDATED

“Well, they say a week is a long time in politics but a day sadly seems to be a long time for our automotive workers.

After the promising announcements yesterday GM have today confirmed that they are set to axe 10,000 jobs across Europe. We must now do everything we can to help protect the jobs of our automotive workers.

The workers have the right to know what is happening with the jobs and their families future and I hope all involved parties are able to reach a solution that is the benefit of Luton.”
