Help needed to support local businesses – Cllr. Qurban Hussain
Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Cllr. Qurban Hussain has to today met with representatives of the Luton Bury Park Business Corporation to discuss their views on how to help rejuvenate the area in the current economic climate.
Following on from a meeting with Lorely Burt MP, Lib Dem Business spokesperson, Qurban, the Parliamentary Candidate for Luton South, argued that local businesses were at the heart of the community in Bury Park and welcomed their advice and support for Luton.
Cllr. Hussain said:
“It is essential that we work together as a united community to ensure a prosperous future for our whole town. The business community in Bury Park are clear in their support for our town and I appreciate that they took the time to speak with me.
I was pleased to meet with them to discuss how we believe that improved transport links to lower congestion, a new football stadium in our community and regeneration in Bury Park would help boost trade and jobs throughout Luton.
We need to be putting Luton first and working closely with local businesses plays a central role in creating a prosperous future for Luton. Local people have positive and achievable goals to help boost our town and I will be doing all I can to support measures that will help do so.
This week I also met with Lorely Burt MP, Lib Dem business spokesperson, to talk about how it essential that we put the goals of our community first. It was clear from our meeting, alongside Nick Clegg’s recent visits to Luton, that the Liberal Democrats are dedicated towards ensuring that local Luton businesses are given a voice in Westminster at this time and that the support they need is being called for.”
