Yvonne Edmunds
Although retired from a long career in Finance, Yvonne has been the Treasurer of the local party for over 10 years.
When her husband, a civil servant, was promoted they moved to Leicester continuing to work for the same bank where she had started her career in Northampton, where she had grown up.
Their move to Luton came in the early 1980’s and they have been settled here ever since. Working for the same commercial bank she was offered the possibility of a six-month secondment to head up a new branch in the City – she jumped at the chance. This became a permanent position in various managerial roles but after commuting into London for 10 years she replaced the bright lights of the city for a part-time role locally still in finance.
With more time on her hands she served for many years as a governor at two local schools, both of which seemed to think that their Finance Committee was an ideal fit for her and she obliged and became Vice Chair and Chair respectively. Keen to diversify and ensure that the pupils received the best possible rounded development she regularly sat on staffing performance reviews, recruitment panels and finally became Chair of governors at one of the schools.
She has a good sense of perspective and takes a keen interest in local affairs and national issues.
