Gillian moved to Luton in 1996 when her Lutonian husband suggested they buy a house there to raise their children. Despite being a Scot, she now feels like a true Lutonian.

While caring for her children, Gillian decided to retrain as a teacher, earning her degree and P.G.C.E. at Bedfordshire University. She now teaches at Icknield High School.

Gillian became a councillor to serve the people of Luton and give a voice to the community. She was fortunate enough to stand in the Ward of Round Green, where she lives. Being a resident puts her closer to the issues of those she serves.
